The sunlight poured through the windows of Centenary Hall for this morning's Staff INSET day (surely a good omen for the year ahead, even if it makes photography tricky?). With a focus on relationships, wellbeing and empathy, our own fantastic staff delivered sessions on Lived Life Experience, Educational Visits training, and led mindful breathing techniques to reset before another busy year, and we welcomed Zoe from @ithappens_edu who spoke about issues facing secondary-age children today. In an increasingly technological age, people matter most. Informed and aware, we look forward to 2026. Happy New Year!

Happy Shab-e Chelleh! Shab-e Chelleh is an ancient Persian celebration marking the longest night of the year, the winter solstice. The word "Chelleh" comes from the Persian word for forty, representing the start of a 40-day period of winter. This tradition has deep roots in Zoroastrianism, where the return of light is a symbol of hope, renewal, and the triumph of goodness. Families gather late into the night, sharing poetry, stories, pomegranates, watermelon, nuts, and warming teas. It's a time to reflect, reconnect, and welcome the returning light with love and hope. Wishing everyone a bright and joyful Shab-e Chelleh! #ShabEChelleh #WinterSolstice #PersianTraditions #IranianCulture #FamilyGathering

Happy Hanukkah to All! Hanukkah is a Jewish celebration known as the Festival of Lights. It commemorates a miracle that happened over 2,000 years ago when a small amount of oil lasted for eight days in a temple, keeping the lights burning. It's a time to get together with loved ones, light candles, share stories, and celebrate hope, faith, and togetherness. Whether you're familiar with the tradition or just learning about it, we hope this season fills your heart with joy, peace, and light. #Hanukkah #FestivalOfLights #Hanukkah2025 #Miracles #CelebrationOfHope #HolidaySeason

Today we mark International Day for People with Disabilities, a moment to recognise the strength and resilience of all disabled people in our community and around the world. At Borlase, we believe inclusion is not just an idea but something we work towards every day. We are proud to learn from one another, to celebrate our differences, and to create an environment where every student feels valued, supported and heard. This day reminds us that accessibility, kindness and understanding are responsibilities we all share. By listening, showing empathy and challenging our assumptions, we move closer to a school and a society where everyone can truly thrive. Let's keep learning, keep advocating and keep lifting each other up. #IDPwD #InclusionMatters #BorlaseCommunity #AccessibilityForAll #SENDCo #DisabledCommunity
