The Dance Department is based in the Longstaff Studio with 1 full time and 1 part time teacher; both of whom are dance specialists and have worked professionally.

All KS3 students engage in dance classes one hour a week and from KS4 we offer GCSE and AS/A2 Dance.
All students are encouraged to improve their technical ability, develop an awareness of health and fitness and be creative when choreographing their own dance work. One of the department's aims is to provide greater access for students to different aspects of dance.

There are a number of dance events within the school that allow students to showcase their talents including the biannual house dance competition.
This year, Year 7 students will work to create a dance performance in collaboration with the French Department and Year 8 students will participate in a Strictly Come Dancing competition.

The department co-ordinates many dance clubs that demonstrate an eclectic mix of styles for boys and girls to learn from Ballet to Contemporary and Hip-Hop.
Gifted and talented students in dance can join in many activities and can work towards joining Evolve - the school youth dance company.
We have excellent student mentors and leaders who go out into primary schools to deliver dance.

Students also have the opportunity to visit the theatre to watch live performances and enjoy workshops with professional dancers. This year we have workshops with the Richard Alston Dance company, a professional artist in Horton technique and Ailvin Ailey and our youth dance company will be working with Helen Parlor, a professional dancer and choreographer (ex-Motionhouse).
