Head Of Dance

Claire Hindley is Head of Dance at Sir William Borlase's Grammar School, and an A-level Dance Examiner for AQA. Claire has had a passion for Dance ever since her first ballet class at the age of 5. She trained in Worksop, North Nottinghamshire at the Claire Mayfield School of Dance where she spent her early years taking the AAD ballet, tap, modern and acrobatics dance examinations to vocational level.  In her time with the Association of American Dancing, Claire gained places in the final of Ballet Scholarship competitions and performed in productions at prestigious venues across the country, including London's Dominion Theatre and Colliseum and the Opera Houses in Buxton and Blackpool.

Claire went on to study Dance and gained a first class B. A. Honours degree in Dance and English at the University of Birmingham, where she trained primarily in contemporary dance and performed in events and with student societies. In 2003-2005 Claire performed with contemporary dance companies in the Midlands and Yorkshire. She also worked with Dance4, the National Dance Agency for the East Midlands, producing material to support the development of Dance whilst acting as a freelance dance teacher. Claire entered full time teaching shortly after and has not looked back, becoming a Head of Department straight out of training.

Claire has successfully set up Dance departments in two secondary schools and currently manages and delivers Dance from Year 1 to Year 13, specializing in GCSE and A-level Dance. She is an examiner for A-level Dance and works in collaboration with schools in the area to promote dance in education. She also directs and choreographs the youth dance company, Evolve. In the last 3 years Claire has returned to ballet training with the RAD and has taken grade examinations achieving distinctions. In 2007 Claire qualified as a Pilates and Yoga instructor and teaches adult classes in the local area.

Mr. Luke Stenberg
Teacher of Dance

Luke is a graduate of the Royal Ballet Upper school. He has danced with the Royal Ballet company, Birmingham Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, European Ballet, Dutch National Ballet and Danish Royal Ballet. He has been involved in shows such as Giselle, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, La Bayadere and many more. As well as ballet dancing Luke is trained in street and break dancing and has danced with crews such as 'Majestics', 'Masterz', 'Rock Steady', 'Assasins' and 'Old Skool'. He has battled in many competitions such as the B-Boy World Championships and Street Wars. Luke is also the principal of Breaking Pointe School of Dance.
