COOKERY+ PROJECT
Most parents will be aware that the school has been pursuing a project to construct a two-storey extension adjacent to the Geography & English block and behind the canteen. The building work is being substantially funded from a grant from the Department for Education in order to provide facilities for teaching cookery. At the same time the governors have taken this opportunity to provide additional teaching space on the first floor which will be lined to the English department. We have today had confirmation that the tender process has been completed and the successful bid is within budget. This means that the building project will go ahead as soon as possible, probably starting before the beginning of next academic year, ie in August, and running for approximately 30 weeks. Access will be via Colonel’s Meadow leading to a secure compound and the school will work with the construction firm to ensure the safety and security of everyone on site. There will inevitably be some noise and disruption at points during the year but we are confident that these can be keep to an absolute minimum.
