Sir William Borlase’s celebrates outstanding GCSE results. Headmaster Dr Peter Holding says “We are really delighted by these results. With all the uncertainties surrounding the new exams in Maths and English, this year group had to manage great uncertainty and anxiety, and I am very proud of the work that they put in and the successes they have now achieved. Over 30% of our Maths GCSE results were the new Level 9 – which is truly amazing, and 40% of all students gained Level 9 in one or more subject.
One student, Victoria Chong, gained 8 A*s and three Grade 9s, a truly exceptional performance. Over 78% of all GCSE grades were at A* or A, and 50 students gained all A grades or better. Given all of the changes to exams and all of the turbulence to the grade system, this is a real tribute to their hard work and all of the support they have received from their teachers.”
