Year 13 Leavers Celebrations

Goodbye and all the best for  your examinations and for the future!

It was lovely to be able to celebrate with our year 13 students last week as they came to the end of their time at Borlase. Following a year 13 Leavers’ assembly on the Tuesday which included final words from all 6th form tutors, and amusing videos and photos of their younger selves, this was followed on Wednesday by our Leavers’ chapel and tea party. From the rousing chorus of the school song and Jerusalem - to the lovely readings by staff and school captains, and beautiful singing by Cantorum - it was a wonderful time to remember and celebrate all that it means to be a student at Borlase. Perhaps the words of The Road Home sung by Carnotrum best summed up the mixed emotions of both sadness but also a genuine sense of there being a special place where you belong and to which you return - and certainly we hope that Borlase is a place where friendships are formed, opportunities embraced and special memories made. Whilst the sun did not shine on our leavers’ tea party - it was the biggest ever and many parents came to support and to share in this special day. Following speeches by Miss Mountfield and Mrs Bungey, our School Captains spoke with genuine fondness about their year group and time at Borlase, amusing the audience with anecdotes and favourite memories. We wish class of 2022 all the best - and as summed up on the motto of their Leavers’ mug: Be bold enough to use your voice, brave enough to listen to your heart and strong enough to live the life you always imagined

Ms Jane Bungey, Head of Sixth Form
