Global Maths Art Competition

Year 12 pupil Leon Tasch selected as finalist in Desmos Global Maths Art Contest

Congratulations to year 12 pupil Leon Tasch for being selected as a finalist in the Desmos Global Maths Art Competition.

In April this year, the mathematical graphing website, Desmos, ran a Global Art Competition for pupils to submit maths art using their graphing software. This saw pupils from around the world using equations of lines, inequalities, regions and animations to produce beautiful art. The competition featured over 4,000 graphs from over 100 countries.

Leon did an impressive 473 lines of equations and the judges were extremely impressed by his moving graph work, which demonstrated stunning creativity and mathematical knowledge.

Leon commented: “I really didn't expect to hear back, I considered it to be for fun (yes, maths is fun). Honestly, I'm just so excited to see all the other finalists' graphs and check out everything they've put into it.”
