JCQ Documents for Candidates
The conduct of examinations is governed by the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ), a body made up of the main examination boards. Candidates will be made aware of the following documents and should ensure they are familiar with them.
National Contingency Day
In the event of "widespread sustained national or local disruption arising during the examination series", it would be possible to sit affected GCSE and GCE (A Level) exams on a day held aside for that purpose. The option to postpone an exam in the event of an incident and re-arrange for a later date allows all students a fair and equal chance. Students are expected to remain available until this date to ensure that they do not miss any of their papers as this could affect their overall grade in a subject. For 2020, this date has been set by JCQ as Wednesday 24 June.
