Joining us in 2022
Our 6th Form Open Evening took place on 17 November 2021. All subject talks are available online, linked from the Academic Subject page of our website. If you attended the Open Evening and would like to be kept up to date with information about the admissions process, please leave your details here.
Applications by students currently at schools other than Sir William Borlase's Grammar School are made by completing the application form posted below. They should also include a CV and a letter of application, of no more than one side of A4, outlining their motivation to join the Borlase 6th Form and explaining their subject choices. The application form and letter can be handed in at Reception or posted to Claire Woodgate, Sixth Form Admissions, Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School, West Street, Marlow SL7 2BR. External applicants should also download the reference form below and pass it to their current school for completion.
The deadline for applications for September 2022 is Tuesday 1 February 2022.
Current Borlase Year 11 students should fill in the Internal Student application form: this will be explained at school in assemblies, tutor time and PSHE lessons.
The minimum entry requirement for all students applying to the Sixth Form is as follows:
- An Average Point Score (APS) across all GCSE subjects of 6.4 with a minimum Level 5 in Maths and English. IGCSEs are also acceptable.
- Most A Level subjects require a Level 7 to continue to A Level; individual subject requirements are detailed in the Subject Information pages.
As of November 2021, we expect that a full programme of external GCSE exams will take place in summer 2022. Following the application deadline in February 2022, we will write to all applicants with an indication of where they would be placed in a rank order of applicants should we have to apply our published oversubscription criteria. In summer 2021, in the context of Teacher Assessed Grades, we had to apply these criteria for the first time. However, please note that we were able to successfully admit over 95% of applicants who met our academic criteria in summer 2021.
