Vision and Values
Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School is committed to being an inspirational learning environment for students and staff, empowering young people to fulfil their aspirations and ambitions; supporting them in developing the confidence to shape their own futures and in so doing, the future of the world around them.
Te Digna Sequere
Our values today are captured in the school motto, adopted by those early scholars back in 1624. Te Digna Sequere - Follow things Worthy - is a principle that underpins the distinctive ethos of the school. It reminds us all that we should have a clear moral purpose behind the choices we make; that we should value all individuals within a supportive community and that we have the potential to use our different talents to make a positive difference at Borlase and beyond. Borlasians are involved in community work locally and support local, national and international and charities. Hundreds of students complete the Duke of Edinburgh Award each year and over a hundred sixth formers support learning in local primary schools every week.
